I need more time. MUCH more time. Don’t we all? The year feels like its wrapping up quickly, and I still have oh so much to do before that happens! The Christmas Family Minis are sneaking up on me. Only a few weeks away! Its time to pick your time slot.
October 8
4:00pm, 4:30pm, 5:00pm, 5:30pm, 6:00 pm, 6:30pm
October 15
4:00pm, 4:30pm, 5:00pm, 5:30pm, 6:00pm, 6:30pm
****If I notice daylight is running short at 6:30pm, I may have to change the times….sessions would begin at 3:30pm…right now, its fine and I think it will still be fine on the 8th and 15th, but only time will tell. If you think I’m wrong, please tell me! lol. I hate to do that, but such is life!

a new direction
Posted on August 15, 2011
I havent blogged much this year. It seems that stealing a few minutes to blog is impossible these days. So much has happened this year. Sam is two. Avah is almost 5. Briana will be 8 in January. I have 3 growing kids and no free time to prove it! August is almost over and with that comes a new school year. Our table will be full with a second grader and a kindergartener. I imagine Samuel will keep us all extra busy each morning as well. My little sister is about to be a Mommy, and when she returns to work I will be caring for her sweet baby boy. The girls and I are so excited to have a new baby in the house! We are also days away from the beginning of a major renovation of our home. We are doubling the size of this sweet little house. I can not wait to share it all on here. Of course, I have much to catch up on first.
So why am I telling you the story of our 2011 so quickly? Well…because it gives you the reason for this post. The reason for my new direction. This blog has been devoted to my photography business. (and though my empty blog suggests 2011 has not been busy…I can assure you, it has! I am just SO behind!) I throw bits and pieces of our day to day life on here when I think about it, but other than that…its mostly been here to showcase my beautiful clients!
Ive been doing a bit of thinking. Okay, a lot of thinking. The end of 2011 will be quite busy for us. In order for me to remain somewhat sane, Ive decided to cut back the number of clients I will take on from now until January 2012. I need this time to step back and make sure our day to day family life adapts well to all of the changes coming our way. Ive also decided that this blog should feature more of this day to day life that we speak of!!! I know Ive said in the past that I want to blog more. Especially about my kids. And then I get caught up in this life and the blog suffers. Vicious cycle! Perhaps you would like to hear about our adventures in home education? Id love to share, if its something my readers would enjoy!
With that, Ill leave you with a couple of sweet pictures of my two year old. sigh…two already. More info about session availability and some sweet second birthday pictures to come! Watch for blog updates as well! It is time for a little blog “housekeeping” I think!

I heard her telling Avah that she wanted to use a pillow for their “newborn pictures”
I heard alot of posing instructions being tossed around
I heard Sam’s little voice saying “shheeez”
This is what you get when Briana has my point and shoot…

writer’s block?
Posted on June 28, 2011
I’m not sure that I should use that title…do I qualify as a writer? I hardly think so. But there must be some excuse for me not blogging since March! How did this happen?
I have a few reasons. Briana. Avah. Samuel.
Ha! no no …. I really would love to get back to blogging. I am sure I have zero readers…and I don’t blame you for dumping me! I am quite boring! Really, things over at {btp} have just been BUSY! I can not even begin to tell you how busy I have been! I will just have to show you with an overload of pictures. But…that will have to wait a bit longer. I will be updating my site with all of these new pictures. And a few more exciting things! I will use this blog post to let you know that {btp} will be closed for the entire month of July. Once I open back up in August, there will be quite a few changes. No worries, they are GREAT changes!!!
I wish I had some kind of funny story or some awesome photo to share in this post….but to be honest…that “writer’s block” or whatever it is that I have come down with, is not quite gone yet!
But, like always, I believe that no blog post is complete without a photo…so here ya go! My silly little man!!

40 weeks | navasota photographer
Posted on March 30, 2011
40 weeks feels like an eternity when you are watching your belly grow. Feeling those squirms and kicks. Watching your feet swell. Waiting to meet that sweet angel baby that makes crazy shapes out of your tummy. Its so easy to complain about being whale-ish, not being able to sleep, and visiting the ladies room 1029938 times a day. Sometimes more! And it seems those weeks drag on forever.
And then you hold that baby. And the being whale-ish, not being able to sleep, and those 1029948 potty breaks seem like they happened so long ago…and passed so quickly. I have been so blessed to carry three wonderful children into this world. I have been blessed with healthy and happy pregnancies. And you know what I wish I had? Pictures to prove it. Thats right. Little Mrs. Photographer here has ZERO pictures of herself being whale-ish. I regret that. I wish I would have put aside my double chin and chubby ankles and let that big ol’ belly take front and center.
Because…look….its beautiful.
Isnt she wonderful? This is from a session way back when…Her sweet little angel is already here….and Im sure she is looking back on her 40 weeks….and missing it…if even just a little.

balentimes day | mama
Posted on February 17, 2011
I don’t talk alot about homeschooling on here. I just don’t seem to ever get around to it. Id love to shout from the rooftops how wonderful I think that it is. Tell everyone what a blessing it has been to our family. How amazing it is to see my girls grow so close to one another. To know that they really are best friends. To see that excitement in their eyes when they learn something new. And how I know that their days are spent learning through living. Learning through reading. Learning while playing. Their days are full of imaginative play and nature study. Its really a beautiful way to grow up. This spring we added something amazing to our homeschool routine. We have begun to follow the Alphabet Path….and what a beautiful path it is! Its been so fun for all of us!!! We just tacked it on with our normal math, grammar, history, and science studies. We love it all. We even used the flower fairy CD at our tea party. Its beautiful music!! Ok, so you can see I’m excited! Anyway, last week was “D” week. We did not have time to make these donuts because we got very sidetracked with dinosaurs. lol. That’s ok…Valentines (or Balentimes) day was the perfect day to make Decadent Donuts! We decided to make it a little more appropriate for Valentines Day and used a heart shaped cookie cutter to shape our donuts! I think they look wonderful! Avah did a GREAT job! Enjoy the pictures!
And here is a recipe! Grab your kids and have fun! It was a YUMMY treat for sure!!!
What you need:
•a roll of refrigerated biscuit dough
•a bag of good chocolate chips
•a cup of heavy cream
•sugar and cinnamon
•premium vanilla bean ice cream (think Blue Bell…)
•oil for frying
Take the biscuits and flatten them with your hand. Use a cookie cutter or your finger and cut out (poke out) a hole. We fried our “holes” lol. Heat your oil and fry your biscuits. It doesnt take long. Mix the sugar and cinnamon on a plate. Roll the donuts in the sugar mixture. Heat the cream on the stove. Melt chocolate chips in the cream. Stir until smooth. Top your donut with ice cream and chocolate syrup. YUMMY! Its very easy…and Im sure you can figure out what to do from the pictures below…my directions are probably scattered. LOL
Enjoy!!!
